Supporting Our Neighbors at the CROP Walk

Holland Zeeland Indivisible contributes positively to our community, not only through protesting illegal and harmful government actions, but also by actively helping our neighbors. In support of the food insecure in our community and the agencies that serve them, we will participate in the 46th annual Holland Zeeland CROP Walk on May 18, Sunday afternoon, Centennial Park.

The actions this administration has taken have resulted in increased food insecurity around the world (dismantling of USAID and other food programs) and here at home (canceled USDA deliveries and grants to nonprofits and reductions or closures of coordinating agencies). That makes the CROP Walk especially appropriate, because 25% of the funds raised will be distributed to local organizations, including Community Action House, Harvest Stand Ministries, Gateway Mission, Kids Food Basket, Christian Neighbors, and the Salvation Army. The remainder will be used to provide life-saving support around the world.

Participate at whatever level you choose!

  • Donate in support of a walker or our Holland Zeeland Indivisible team by following the instructions online.
  • Donate a nonperishable food item as part of our contribution. If you can’t deliver your donation to Centennial Park on May 18, or drop it in the box provided near the entryway at Hope Church.
  • Join our team as a walker. We’d love to have 50 Indivisible members with us! Follow the instructions at the CROP Walk website to join.
  • Share your participation with your network and ask for financial support.
  • Meet up at Centennial Park on Sunday, May 18, at 1 p.m. near the gazebo! Our message that day will be one of community support, gratitude for agencies doing this work locally, and reinforcing the role that government has successfully played for decades in making food available to people who need it. More details about our plans will be shared as the date approaches.
